Multi-storey car park open 24 hours

Bourne Place Multi-Storey Car Park is now open for people to use 24 hours a day every day.

The 317-space car park was built as part of the new town centre redevelopment and includes 21 disabled spaces, four parent and child parking bays, 10 motorcycle bays and seven bike spaces.

The car park also has four electric charging spaces, part of the Ecotap network of electric charging points, to help support the growing number of electric vehicles using local roads and reduce vehicle emissions.

Cllr Monique Bonney, cabinet member for economy and property at the council, said:

“The car park is now open 24 hours a day.

“The modern multi-storey car park offers pay on exit parking for shoppers, commuters and visitors.

“It has family spaces, disabled spaces, plus spaces for motorbikes, bicycles and electric charging points.

“Inside the car park the floors are painted bright cheerful colours to help remind customers where they parked.

“All payment machines take cash (coins and notes), card, contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

“We recently lowered the price for long stay parking to £7 for 24 hours parking to encourage people to use this car park.”
