A bit about Tenterden

Tenterden is a town based in the Ashford District of Kent, with a population of over 7,500.

May Fayre and Tenterden Folk Festival are the town’s most popular annual events with May Fayre being held every bank holiday in May and the folk festival takes place every October.

The Kent and East Sussex Railway opened in 1974 and is known to attract many visitors, especially with the Real Ale and Cider Festival that they hold annually.

Local vineyard Chapel Down is also a very popular attraction, where many award-winning wines are produced.

The town also boasts the Sinden Theatre, a leisure centre and the Tenterden and District Museum.

There are two Parish Churches in the town, as well as a number of local organisations including The National Trust, the Rotary Club, the Residents Association, the Operatic and Dramatic Society and the Weald of Kent lodge, among many more. The town is also twinned with Avallon, France.

Notable residents of Tenterden include former Olympic Gold medallist and Vicar of Tenterden, Sholto Marcon, international singer/songwriter Nicki French.

Tenterden Town Football Club were established in 1889 and currently compete in the Division Three Central & East league in the Kent County League.
