A bit about Overton & Oakley

Overton is a village and parish in Hampshire, located to the west of Basingstoke town. The population of Overton (from a 2011 census) is 4,315 and with developments made on Foxdown and Overton Hill, it is reputed that Overton is the largest village in Hampshire

The area has a history of banknote paper manufacturing, which started in the 18th Century, Overton Mill still produces pound sterling banknotes for the Bank of England. Laverstoke Mill is now used by Bombay Sapphire, including a visitor’s centre.

Dedicated to St Mary, Overton Church has medieval origins through the building which is from the late Norman period.

The first village school was founded in 1817. In 1968 a new school was built at the top of Court Drove to meet the needs of modern education and the school has been repeatedly upgraded in 1998, 2001 and 2014.

Overton has two football teams, non-league football club Overton United FC and Tron FC who play on Berrydown Sports Ground.

A bit about Oakley

Oakley is a large village in the borough of Basingstoke & Deane, Hampshire. The population of Oakley (from a 2011 census) is 5,086. Oakley Parish Council was formed in 1894

Oakley contains a small Methodist Church and an Ancient Anglican Church, St Leonards. Oakley has two linked educational schools; Oakley CE Junior School and Oakley Infant School.

Oakley Football Club was founded in 1967 by former Chelsea FC footballer Peter Houseman. Oakley FC’s aims are to enjoy their football and encourage boys and girls to take part from all ages and abilities.
