A bit about East Peckham & Paddock Wood

East Peckham is a town in Kent, made up of nine hamlets and is the centre of the hop growing industry in Kent, home to the Hop Farm which has the largest collection of Oast Houses in the world.

The first ever speeding fine was given in East Peckham to Walter Arnold in 1896 who was travelling at 8 mph exceeding the then town speed limit of 2 mph, he was fined 1 shilling plus costs.

East Peckham is twinned with Chéreng, Nord, France and has one Primary School: The East Peckham Primary School.

Paddock Wood is a town with a population of 8,253* and has three tiers of local government: Parish, County and Borough.

The town has two schools: Paddock Wood Primary and Mascalls Academy.

The Paddock Wood Railway Station is included in Charles Dickens novel ‘Dombey and Son’.

There are seven Churches in the East Peckham area and two Churches in Paddock Wood.
