A bit about Uckfield

Uckfield is a town based in the Wealden District of East Sussex, with a population of around 15,000. The town has many neighbouring Nature Reserves, including West Park, Hempstead Meadows, Harlands Pond, Nightingale Wood and Millennium Green. Popular events in the town include Uckfield Festival, which is thrown once a year to advance the public in the arts of music, speech and drama. Uckfield also hold an annual torchlight Carnival on the first Saturday in September. Uckfield FM is a Community Radio Station that developed into a full-time station after originally supporting the town at Christmas and it’s four-week festival in June (Uckfield Festival). In 2014, the station was granted a six-year licence, taking their service through to 2020. Uckfield is twinned with the town of Quickborn, Germany and Arques-la-Bataille in France. Uckfield is connected to London Bridge Station by Southern Rail services on its Oxted Line via East Croyden. There are 20 local bus services in the Uckfield area as well as National Express Coaches that operate all over the country. Uckfield College is the only secondary school in the town, there are five primary schools in the area: Harlands, Holy Cross, Rock Parks, St Philips and Manor. Notable residents of the town include Emma Lee French, Frank Tuohy, Marjorie Westbury and Rag’n’Bone Man. A.F.C. Uckfield Town is the main football club, playing their home games at the Oaks on Eastbourne Road.
