St Nicholas at Wade with Sarre – 75th Anniversary of VE day
Proposed timetable for St Nicholas at Wade – Highlighted items are nationally coordinated – May 8th, 9th & 10th 2020
Friday 8th 2020:
- 12pm – Pavilion/Sun/Bell/Crown/Village Hall open to the public – 40s music
- 2:30pm – Church service with VIPs – friends and families of service personnel.
- 2:55pm – (national broadcast) Buglers playing the Last Post & Reveille from the top of the Four Peaks – St Nicholas and Sarre will have their own played.
- 00pm – (national broadcast) Pipers will play Battles O’ers and VE DAY 75 – everyone toasts to hero’s of WWII – marking the exact moment Churchill announced the end of World War II in Europe.
- 4:00pm – Pavilion – VIP tea
- 7:00pm – (national event) Churches and Cathedrals will ring out for peace and venues can read out the “Cry for Peace” adding to the celebrations.
Saturday 9th 2020:
- 7:00pm – Quiz night at Manor Hall in aid of The Royal British Legion

· VE Union flag bunting · Host the VIP’s and remembrance service · 2:55pm – Bugler outside the church · 3:00pm – The nation will toast to the hero’s of World War 2 · 7:00pm A cry for peace – Bell ringing
