It’s the most wonderful time of the year in the borough!

It’s snow joke, the Christmas trees have gone up, the lights are switching on and the grottos are getting ready for Christmas around the borough.

Five 20ft Christmas trees provided by Havant Borough Council have gone up around the borough in Havant, Leigh Park, Hayling Island, Waterlooville and Emsworth to bring that extra festive feeling.

Come and meet all your favourite festive friends from the North Pole in the grottos and join us around the borough for our fantastically festive events, some of which will be attended by the Mayor of Havant.

The yuletide events begin this weekend and continue in the lead up to Christmas:

On Saturday 23 November, the Waterlooville Events Team invite you to join them in the festivities. The Mayor of Havant will choose the winners in the best lantern competition whilst carols are sung from 5pm in Waterlooville town centre (outside HSBC bank).  The grotto will then open from Saturday 7 December at 10am in Waterlooville Library.

At 5.30pm on Friday 29 November The Mayor of Havant, along with the oldest and youngest residents of Emsworth will be getting everyone into the Christmas spirit. Carols will be sung, St Peter’s Square, Emsworth and the Lobsterpot Christmas tree on the Quay will be lit up, in an evening of Christmas joy with Emsworth Business Association.

The Leigh Park Community Grotto will be welcoming its guest of honour, Father Christmas, on Friday 29 November at 1pm. The grotto in Greywell Shopping Centre, Leigh Park, will be open Thursday to Saturday throughout December.

Hayling Lions and The Mayor of Havant will welcome everyone at the annual illumination of lights, on Friday 6 December in Mengham, Hayling Island, at their late-night shopping event. The merriment is set to begin at 5.30pm.
