Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is almost upon us and a new season is a good time to change things up! Since you’ll be transitioning from winter, winter items might still be placed around your home. Although it’s still a bit chilly, the sun is becoming more visible, so this is a good time to be out with the old and in with the new. If you want to be ready for the changing of the season and welcome spring, here are the spring cleaning tips to take note of!

De-clutter

The first thing you should do is de-clutter. If you have any items you no longer need, it’s a good idea to clear them out before you begin to clean. According to experts, de-cluttering can have a positive effect on your overall mood and can make you feel productive. If you’re worried about your items being wasted, consider donating them to charity, listing them up on Facebook Marketplace or giving them to a friend.

Create a cleaning to-do list

To make sure you get everything done, why not write out a to-do list? This will get you organised and make you feel productive as you tick off all the tasks you’ve done. If you get overwhelmed easily, don’t opt for one big list and separate it into sections instead. Separate it into room by room and list down the most important task you need to do in each. It’s also a good idea to include anything you’ve been putting off. By creating your list, you’ll be able to manage the cleaning easily.

Clean your whole windows

Most people just clean the inside of their windows, but it’s ideal to clean the whole window. This includes the outside and the window sills to remove any stains and unwanted creepy crawlies. However, make sure you do this on a cloudy day. Cleaning your windows on a sunny day can dry out the cleaning product.

Give your kitchen a deep clean

The kitchen is the room in the house that may need a lot more cleaning since it can get really dirty. For the spring season, make sure you give your kitchen a deep clean. You can start off by removing everything from your cupboards and fridge, wiping them down with mild disinfectant. If you see anything out-of-date, make sure this is thrown out.

As well as your cupboards and fridge, you should also be cleaning the worktop, toaster, kettle and any other appliances you have. White goods like your washing machine and dishwasher will also need a good clean. For those who frequently use the oven, it may need cleaning too. Look out for a burning smell when you turn it on. If you do smell something burning, it’s time to get scrubbing! To clean your oven, have a read through How to Maintain a Clean Oven, which might be helpful.
