Acts of Kindness
The 17th February marks Random Acts of Kindness Day (RAK), which is a day that encourages people to stay kind and be kinder in order to make kindness the norm. This day is celebrated by individuals, groups and organisations nationwide to inspire acts of kindness. If you want to show some kindness today or in general, have a read through the following acts of kindness you can do!
Lend a helping hand
One way to show some kindness is to lend a helping hand. It’s always difficult to ask for help, so offering it first is a good way to show that you care too. You can lend a helping hand in multiple ways. For example, helping a colleague with work, holding the door open for a stranger or volunteering for a good cause. Anything that helps will show just how kind you are!
Make sure you listen
Whenever someone goes to you for help or expresses how they feel about a situation, it’s important to sit and listen. Most of the time, a lot of people listen to respond. However, being there for a loved one or a friend and giving them your full attention can help them feel less stress, pressure or anxiety.
Give a compliment
An easy way to show kindness is to compliment others. You’ll make someone’s day by making them feel seen and it’s also a good source of endorphins!
Make sure to message
Since you can now immediately communicate with others, there’s no excuse for not connecting and checking in with friends and family. A simple message asking them how they are and wishing them a good day is enough to let them know you care and that you’re thinking of them.
Send some care packages
Care packages, whether big or small, will be appreciated by the recipient. Once again, this lets them know that you care and that you listen to them rave on about their favourite things. So, don’t hesitate to send your friend or your loved one their favourite snacks, items, books, etc.
These are a few of the ways you can show random acts of kindness, which hopefully makes your day better! For some inspiration, head over to the foundation’s ‘Get Inspired‘ page or take part in their colouring contest!
