The Big Rainham September Clean

The Big Rainham September Clean was held on Saturday 26th and consisted of community litter picks at Cozenton Park, Rainham Rec and Berengrave Lane Nature Reserve. This was organised by Rainham North councillors and supported by Medway Council as part of the Great British September Clean to give our community a thorough clean.

We organised things a bit differently this year by having a sack deposit zone for those who wanted to do self-directed litter picks throughout the day. However, we still did socially distant community sessions at all 3 sites. Despite the blustery weather, we collected 24 bags (plus an old tent) across Cozenton Park, the Rainham Rec and Berengrave Lane Nature Reserve.

Cllr Martin Potter said, “Well done to all the volunteers and the Friends of the Rainham Rec for their efforts in making a difference for our community. The bags collected will be added to the Medway total for the Great British September Clean.”

We would like to congratulate all the amazing volunteers who came out to help with this year’s Big Rainham September Clean – well done to all!
