Rye & Winchelsea Rotary Club

The Rye & Winchelsea Rotary Club has been serving our local community since 1948.  You may have heard of us, but many have not.  We are a service organisation that brings together people who want to give something back to their community and to improve or help the lives of others, through service above self and fellowship with other Rotarians in the UK and around the world.

Rotary is a great place to network, make new friends use your existing skills and maybe learn the odd thing or two along the way.  With over 1.2 million members worldwide, 50,000 in the UK, your bound to make new friends.  By joining Rotary, your journey on the road to transforming communities begins.

The money we raise as a small club, through our fund raising events such as Cycle Ride, Sponsored Walks along with some tin rattling, helps us raise in excess of £7,500 a year for local charities and good causes.  One particular good cause is our support of the local Rye & District Community Bus service, which many us use almost daily, but is in need of some replacement busses.

What are the benefits?  Well Rotary brings together people from all walks of life. Getting involved with Rotary provides benefits to not only communities, but our members as well.

Social networking – Rotary is a great way to expand your social circles, meet new people and make lasting friendships, all while having fun and making a difference.

Develop your skills – You can share your personal and vocational skills, take up leadership roles, as well as learning from fellow members on activities such as project planning, communications and service delivery.

Enhance your understanding – Events such as the annual Rotary Showcase and the international Convention offer opportunities to be inspired by guest speakers and develop your global understanding.

Business opportunities – Rotary was founded as a business networking group, and this still plays a part in Rotary today. Making connections with other members can enhance your professional life.
