Braintree’s right royal weekend

Braintree's Right Royal Weekend

Somehow or other the summer is here, it feels as though it’s somewhat snuck up on us this year as the weather this spring has hardly been inspired. However, it’s here and this year unlike the last the events and communal celebrations shall be unbridled by restrictions or fear of cancellation.

The only place to start when talking about upcoming events is the right royal weekend we’ve all got to look forward to in June.

The 6 February 2022 marked a moment in British history as Her Majesty The Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, signifying 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom and the Common Wealth. To mark this joyous occasion, events and celebrations are due to take place across the UK throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday from Thursday, 2 to Sunday, 5 June to highlight this unprecedented occasion.

Locally there is so much to look forward to as the entire district ready’s itself for a right royal weekend. From Witham’s wonderful window dressed shops, to behind the scenes tour at the Warner Textile Archive where you’ll be able to explore the history of Warner & Sons supplying silks and velvets to royalty. Everyone’s getting involved, they’ll be street parties across the district as Braintree looks set to be covered in bunting!

The jewel in the district’s Jubilee crown will no doubt be the Festival hosted at Braintree & Bocking Public Gardens. The event will host an amazing entertainment lineup including; Miss Disco, Grand Theft Audio, Beans on Toast, Missing Andy, The Tom’s Braggins Trio, Fox Wiggle and Sass and much more.
