75 years with Rotary Club of Tenterden

On September 16th the Rotary Club of Tenterden will be celebrating our 75th year of charitable activities and support to our local community.

Tenterden Rotary will be hosting a celebrating evening which will reflect on our achievements, and put us on track for our next 75 years!

Thanks to our Tenterden Rotary member, Priti Paintal, Artistic Director of Equator/ShivaNova, our evening will include music from the new Orchestra from Everywhere – a group of high-quality classically trained musicians from different countries who have made the UK their home. They play music together from their own traditions and cultures, along with music they have created to bring cultures and identities together. We will also have a musical celebration of Ukraine, featuring a variety of amazing musicians now living in the UK as refugees from the War in Ukraine. Their songs of hope are guaranteed to bring joy to all who hear them.

Thanks to the enormous generosity of the Ozgur Restaurant and our local Ukrainian families in Tenterden, there will also be fantastic food on the night – a celebration of our diversity as a community. Tickets include a full meal, with a paid bar for those who like a tipple (or something non-alcoholic).

We have chosen two different humanitarian causes which our funds will go to:

• Working with Aquabox and other UK Rotary Clubs, help with the costs of shipping water purifiers to communities in Turkey and Syria still suffering the effects of the February 2023 earthquakes.
• Working with the Rotary Club of Lviv, we will fund iFAK first aid kits to households and public service workers directly affected by the War, and refurbish underground shelters in schools to keep children safe.

The Ozgur restaurant in Tenterden and others are supporting us with free food, for what is hoped will be a fantastic evening.
