Proud 2 Create

The Proud 2 Create Summer Exhibition will be running 17th – 30th August At The Margate School, 31-33 High Street, Margate CT9 1DX

A unique art group holds their fourth major summer show in Margate

The Sandra Art4All Art Studio presents twelve local artists with a varied range of abilities and learning impairments who will be exhibiting their artwork in the Proud 2 Create annual summer exhibition at The Margate School. Among those exhibiting are five artists selected to be part of the Portfolio Exhibition 2023 at the Turner Contemporary in Margate and one artist selected for the Royal Academy London’s Young Artist Summer Show 2023.
At the Proud 2 Create major summer exhibition, there will be more than 100 paintings on display, created by artists whose ages range from 13-52 years old. The Sandra Art4All artists are inspired by a wide range of themes, from landscapes to urban environments, and from animals to abstracts, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Giving a voice that is not normally heard

All the artists exhibiting are part of the Sandra Art4All Art Studio [1] which was established by Sandra Hampton in 2016 to provide a platform for aspiring artists with special needs. The exhibition will showcase a vibrant collection of drawings, paintings and photographs from artists with learning impairments including Autism, Charge Syndrome, Hearing Impaired and Cerebral Palsy.
Sandra Hampton, founder of Art4All said; “To be able to exhibit once again at The Margate School is quite remarkable, the community is an integral part of Margate and the Margate Art Scene. TMS continues to go from strength to strength, successfully gaining funding and grants, meaning so many of us will benefit from their support over the coming years.
“I could not be more delighted to hold our show in their brilliant gallery space this year. We are working harder to create a show for the community that is informative as well as a feast for the senses and to continue our dialogue around artists who are Deaf, Autistic and Neurodiverse”.
The Margate School said; “We are thrilled to once again be hosting this eclectic and vibrant art show by exceptional young people with unique abilities, which includes works which were created during their recent residency at Discovery Planet in Ramsgate”.

The Artists

Verbal and signed communication can be difficult for many of the artists due to the range of their needs. Some may walk into the studio with clear anxieties. The art workshops allow them to express themselves and relax, whilst producing beautiful works of art. Artists receive the majority of the profits from any sales of the artwork.

Best of British

Among those who will be exhibiting are five young artists who have been selected for Portfolio Exhibition 2023 at the Turner Contemporary, Margate.
Nessie, Dalibor, Celia, Amelia and Bethany’s group artwork, Recycle Plastic Heart is currently on display throughout the summer until 10th September as a part of the Rise Up, Clean Up summer show.
The studio was also delighted to have Celia selected to be part of the Royal Academy (RA) London’s Young Artist Summer Show 2023, which is running from 18 July to 13 August.
Out of over 20,000 entries, artwork from seventeen-year-old Celia, entitled My Diary, has been selected to be a part of the 280 pieces at the prestigious Young Artist Summer Show.
Sandra says; “I am extremely proud of our Young Artists and I was very excited to attend the private view with Celia and her family at the Royal Academy at the start of July, where two RA invigilators commented that CeCe’s diary was worthy of the main summer exhibition. To work with such talent and unique individuals is a privilege and I am proud of the recognition our wonderful young artists are receiving”.
