Chestfield play area reopened Friday 9 November following an £80,000 city council makeover.
Children from Swalecliffe Primary School and the Sheriff of Canterbury, Cllr Jeanette Stockley, joined forces to cut the ribbon.
The play area has been fully refurbished using funding from developers who have been granted planning permission for housing. It features a range of exciting and stimulating play equipment for children aged up to 12.
Swalecliffe pupils were involved in helping to choose the design and equipment during special consultation sessions earlier this year. HAGS-SMP was the successful tenderer for the project.
The council’s Senior Environment Officer, Rebecca Booth, said: “Play area refurbishments are always popular and we get a lot of positive feedback from residents whenever we complete a project.
“We’d like to thank the Swalecliffe Primary School pupils for all their help and hope local children enjoy playing there for years to come.”
Chestfield Parish Council has recently funded and provided a brand new adult outdoor gym on land adjacent to the children’s play area.
