Pack a picnic fit for a king – Coronation Weekend
Celebrate the King’s coronation weekend on the 8th May this year with a royally-tasty lunch that would fit perfectly in Buckingham Palace itself.
If there’s ever a day to flourish the pinkie and delve into the English tradition of chivalry and manners, it’s the upcoming coronation weekend and what better way to celebrate than a picnic of the poshest calibre.
We are talking champagne, we are talking the finest of silverware, and of course we are talking the fine china that only comes out when the queen (king) visits.
Some essentials for the posh picnic:
- A fresh picnic blanket and some (plush) cushions
- A wooden picnic hamper can turn a lunch lavish
- The fine china carefully tucked away in the back cupboard
- Silver cutlery
- The bubbly champagne, glasses and bottle opener
- The finest of finger sandwiches (with the crusts chopped)
- A cheeseboard with a good selection
- Water jugs with a slice of lemon perhaps
- It’s not fancy without strawberries and a selection of fruit
- Push the boat out with caviar
- Citronella candles to keep critters at bay
- Smoked salmon and prawns make for a royal lunch
- Don’t forget the vegetarian options and a host of salad and oils
These are just a few ideas to inspire and indulge in for the upcoming coronation so why not prepare a picnic fit for royalty and spoil yourself this May.
