Past Chairman raised just over £16,000 for local charities

Hart

The previous Chairman of Hart District Council, Cllr Wendy Makepeace-Browne has raised over £16,000 for charity during her Civic Year.

On Thursday the 20 June, Cllr Makepeace-Browne presented two cheques, one for 121 Youth Counselling and one for Hart & Rushmoor Live At Home Scheme, each for just over £8,000.

For Cllr Makepeace-Browne’s charity work, Wendy supported two charities that she felt represented both ends of the age spectrum in Hart.

‘121 Youth Counselling’ is a service open to 11-25-year olds, who need support in their day to day lives for many reasons that make them vulnerable and in need of help. For more information about the charity please visit www.hartvolaction.org.uk/services-for-residents/youth-counselling

‘Rushmoor & Hart Live at Home Scheme’ supports the elderly and aims to help people stay in their homes for as long as they can, by offering them support, care and companionship. For more information about the charity visit www.mha.org.uk/live-home/hart

Speaking about her time as Chairman, Wendy said: “I had a fantastic year, met amazing people and I hope that I did a good job in representing our lovely Hart District. I was so pleased to be able to support my chosen charities, both of which have kindly guaranteed that my donations will only go to projects within the Hart boundary’

Cllr Sharyn Wheale took over the reins in May 2019 and is due to announce her chosen charities next month. For more general information about the Chairman and their Civic duties, please visit www.hart.gov.uk/chairman-council-2019-20.
