Havant Borough Council serves up tennis opportunities

Havant Borough Council has doubled up in partnership with Transform Sports Coaching to serve up six weeks of tennis sessions.

Students from Front Lawn Primary Academy, many of whom hadn’t played tennis before, enjoyed the exciting and engaging sports project, starting from the basics.

The final session was delivered onsite at Front Lawn Community Hub where 60 students took their turn in playing competitively against each other, both in doubles and singles matches.

Councillor Tim Pike, Cabinet lead for Planning, Regeneration and Communities said, “During the tennis fortnight what better way to engage young people in a sport they may never have tried before. It is hoped that they will continue to learn new tennis skills and have fun playing on the marvellous tennis facilities available at Front Lawn Community Hub.”

The sessions also provided participants with the opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity, contributing to tackling known local health inequalities amongst children within the borough.
