Margate is set to get a new hotel, right in front of Dreamland

new hotel

Did you know Margate is getting a new hotel right on the Seafront? The team behind it are inviting you to go along to learn more.

The new hotel, which will be right on the beach front, is being labelled a ‘destination hotel’ and will create over 50 jobs in Margate.

It will include a rooftop bar, much like the one already at Ziggy’s, which is being integrated into the hotel, and will have no fewer than 120 rooms. As well as this will be an onsite Restaurant and meeting rooms to be hired out.

The main issue with regenerating Margate is attracting big business down is the lack of places for them to stay when they come down. This is where the hotel comes in.

And the businesses do want to come!

Just recently Margate, and Dreamland, has played host to various photo and video shoots such as Boohoo, Cadbury, Loreal, Burberry, Kodak & Lulu Guinness, Sky mobile, swatch, to name a few.

This is before we start talking about the fantastic music events going on in the town, which has the potential to bring a large number of people to the town.

We have come a long way since the Jolly Boy’s outing.

The hotel comes as the latest in a £50 million investment in the park, although Aiden De Brunner stressed that it will ‘not be a Dreamland hotel’ although there may be future plans for guests staying there going in to the park.

Worried about the look of the new place? Don’t be, it will blend seamlessly in with the other buildings along Marine Terrace, filling in what is currently known as ‘The Gap’ or the space in between the Showboat arcade and Ziggy’s bar.

It certainly looks exciting and we await to hear more details, especially as it comes hot on the heels of the new seven-storey Deckchair hotel planned for Cliftonville.

Want to learn more? Margate Estates, the parent company of the park and the people behind the hotel, are hosting community drop in sessions today in the grade II listed ballroom, to discuss the plans. Pop along to meet the team, view the proposals and give your views. The session will be held between 4pm and 8pm.
