Local Bearsted resident Anya needs funds to help battle cancer

CommunityAd have recently been made aware of a JustGiving Page that has been set up to help local business owner, Anya Christian.

Anya, joint owner of AK Electrical, has recently been at the centre of fundraising efforts through a crowdfunder which has thoughtfully been created by close friend and colleague, Lisa Roper.

Unfortunately, Anya has been diagnosed with a rare cancer called Chordoma, a cancer which is diagnosed in just one in one million people per year.

After great efforts to remove the tumour, “2 major operations later, minus a section of her spine and having gained a bolt in the neck (on the inside …. not Frankenstein style!) a big chunk of Egbert (the tumour) is gone. Getting to the rest of him is too high risk. Sadly with a Chordoma chemotherapy and radiotherapy are no good. This needs Proton beam therapy! A special laser beam treatment only available in the US or Switzerland. So after a long wait since the last operation and a few setbacks Anya has finally been told she will be getting her treatment in America. This is where we all come in.”
