Help us Love Essex during Recycle Week 2019 ♻️

It’s a busy time for the waste and recycling team here in Essex and we’re proud to support national efforts during Recycle Week 2019. The week promises to be the biggest and best Recycle Week ever, as national organisation, Recycle Now, encourages people to take recycling into their own hands and take action to protect our environment.  At ECC, we’re excited to be part of this by helping local residents to recycle more.

The year so far has been one of protests and marches. People have had enough of the status quo; things need to change urgently. Inspired by Our Planet, Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough, environmental concerns have never been so prominent, or important to the nation.

That’s why, for the 17th annual Recycle Week, we’re joining Recycle Now to support Essex residents to act and focus on getting recycling right.

All our efforts make a difference by helping to protect the environment and reducing our waste. The Love Essex website has some great tips to help you recycle everything you can, as well as advice on how to recycle in the right way, including:

• Giving plastic bottles a quick rinse, squash and putting the lids back on
• Rinsing tin cans, popping the lid inside and squashing the sides to stop the lid falling out
• Recycling clothes – all clean clothing, textiles and even shoes can be recycled, but they must not be placed in with other recyclable items. Check with your local council to find out if they offer a separate clothing recycling collection.

I’m sure you’ll all agree that recycling matters and now more than ever, it’s in our own hands. By making some small changes day-to-day, collectively we can make a huge difference, not only in Essex, but across the country and beyond.

If you’d like to recycle more, but you’re not sure where to start, stay up-to-date on ways you can reduce your waste, by signing up to our Love Essex newsletter, or watch one of our videos to learn more.
