Event offers chance to join local clubs

There’s only a few days to go until the Aylesham Signpost community event on Saturday (18 January) when people can find out more about local clubs and activities.

Organised by Aylesham Hub, the event will be held at the Welfare & Leisure Centre, off Spinney Lane, from 11am until 2pm. A number of groups have signed up for a stall along with Dover District Council and centre operator Your Leisure.
An extra attraction is an outdoor cycle obstacle course with stunt ramps and an opportunity to get your bike safety checked and security stamped for free.

“There are some excellent groups, services and venues available locally. We carried out a huge survey this year into what the community feels is missing in this fast-growing village. We will be carrying on this consultation into 2020,” writes Jon Flaig, Hub group secretary.

“We spoke to organisations throughout the area, and they told us they sometimes have trouble getting new members and supporters. Often, people do not know facilities exist in the area. We have planned this event to signpost people to things they can do, places to visit and groups to join.”

Your Leisure staff will be on hand to sign up anybody interested in becoming a member of the gym.

Refreshments will be available throughout the event.
