East Sussex Libraries to reopen remaining libraries

Reopening the remaining 12 libraries

We are pleased to announce that the remaining East Sussex libraries closed in response to the Government’s Covid-19 guidance are set to reopen next month.

The 12 libraries will open from October 19 after a positive customer response to the measures in place at five facilities which reopened in July.

Due to the additional staff needed at each site and enhanced cleaning necessary, the opening days and hours – which have yet to be confirmed, will be significantly reduced.

There will be limited browsing, essential computer sessions, our Reservation Service will be resumed as well as the Select-and-Collect service (you can order books online or via the phone and pick up at the library).

All current loans have been extended to the end of November.

We have put things in place to keep people safe, and visitors should follow signs and directions. Hand sanitizer will be on the door, and we have rearranged the rooms, added screens at counters and increased cleaning. Books will be quarantined between use and you’ll be using self-serve machines where possible.

Unfortunately, there will be no seating or study space, no toilets, no photocopying , no DVDs, newspapers or periodicals and no events.

East Sussex Bookclub Returns
