‘Shopkeepers are advised to check the feel of the paper, the raised print, metallic strip and watermark.

‘Always use a UV light to check for authenticity if one is available.

‘If anyone suspects they have picked up a fake note they should not allow it to go back into circulation and any incidents should be reported immediately to Kent Police by calling 101.’

Anybody who has information that would help our investigations is asked to call Kent Police on 101.

Alternatively call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.’
