Council retains Investors in People Gold accreditation

Chelmsford City Council has retained the prestigious Investors in People (IiP) Gold accreditation for the eleventh year running, demonstrating their continued commitment to high performance through good people management.

Investors in People lead the drive for better leadership and better workplaces. They assess thousands of organisations every three years to lead, support and manage people well, for sustainable results. This achievement is not just about being a great place to work, but it shows that the Council’s staff have the strong focus and determination to continue to deliver the high-quality, value for money services that its residents deserve.

Despite the qualifying criteria being raised by the IiP organisation, Chelmsford City Council was awarded a very strong Gold status which shows they understand that it’s people that make the workplace better. Assessors particularly praised the authority’s openness and trust. The report said: “You have demonstrated a great culture that supports people to be themselves. You hone people’s skills and knowledge and more importantly give them the confidence to go out there and get cracking on some really exciting things.”

The report also highlights the Council’s focus on establishing fantastic spaces across Chelmsford to live, visit and work, as well as places for leisure and entertainment.

Leader of Chelmsford City Council, Councillor Stephen Robinson, said, “We will continue to assess the feedback from Investors in People to ensure we keep up the good work and make further improvements. Alongside this, we have our new set of priorities for the coming years, ‘Our Chelmsford, Our Plan’, to make our city a greener, safer, fairer and better connected place to live, work and visit.”

Chief Executive of Chelmsford City Council, Nick Eveleigh, commented, “It is testament to the commitment of the Council, and the enthusiasm and dedication of all the staff that we have retained this nationally recognised Gold quality standard.”

Head of Investors in People, Paul Devoy, said, “We’d like to congratulate Chelmsford City Council, Investors in People Gold accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. Chelmsford City Council should be proud of their achievement.”
