Chief Executive of Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust to retire

Chief Executive of Medway Council thanks Bill Ferris for his exceptional work at the Historic Dockyard Chatham.

Neil Davies, Chief Executive of Medway Council, said: “The Historic Dockyard Chatham has been brought to life during Bill’s stewardship, with a huge variety of choice for families to see and do including fascinating exhibitions and enjoyable events, all of which create a sustainable future for the historic Medway attraction.

“The Historic Dockyard Chatham has gone from strength to strength and is a hugely popular place for people living locally and further afield to visit. There is already a fantastic events calendar planned for this year and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the Historic Dockyard Chatham. We’d like to thank Bill for his exceptional work and wish him all the best for the future.

“We are delighted that the Historic Dockyard Chatham will be playing a large part during Medway’s bid for City of Culture status, thanks to Bill’s involvement and support. Medway attracts nearly five million visitors each year and the dockyard is just one of the many heritage and cultural venues open to the public. There is always something going on across the five towns for people of all ages to enjoy, making Medway a fantastic place to live, work, learn and visit.”
