Community Groups Benefit From Grants Of More Than £22,000

Community groups in the area are set to benefit from more than £22,000 funding from Dover District Council in the latest round of the Neighbourhood Forum Community Grants Scheme.

Funding totalling £22,980 was allocated by the Grants Appraisal Panel, which was made up of the District Councillors who chair the five Neighbourhood Forum areas, and was approved by Cabinet yesterday, (6 November).  The grants have been allocated to 28 different community groups across the district.

Community groups were invited to apply for funding for projects that could show benefit to the local area.  Grants were available for up to £1,000 in each of the five Neighbourhood Forum areas, (Deal & Walmer, Dover North, Dover Town, Dover West, and Sandwich Area).

Successful groups were chosen from across the district, including the Deal 2nd Scouts, the Friends of Kingsdown Play Park, Dover Outreach Centre, Shepherdswell Cricket Club, and Sandwich Community Christmas Lights.

Successful groups from the 2017/18 Community Grants Scheme have been invited to a special celebration evening at St Radigund’s Community Centre on 23 November 2017.
