Mobility company CareCo will bring more than 80 jobs to Braintree as it signs-up to be part of Horizon 120 – the business & innovation park being built by Braintree District Council just off the A131 in Great Notley.

The District Council’s commercial developer, the Marshgate Group, exchanged contracts with CareCo on Thursday, 10th September as the mobility company announced it had been looking for a new location to expand its business for some time.

CareCo is moving from its current location in Brentwood to a much larger and more modern commercial unit at the new business park. The new 100,000 sq ft building, about a third bigger than the size of a premier league football pitch, will consist of a distribution centre, offices and showroom. It will be the new location for the company’s main national headquarters.

The mobility company markets, sells and distributes mobility equipment – such as mobility scooters, wheel chairs, adjustable beds, hoists and walking aids – to disabled people and the elderly.

It is the first company to announce its investment into the new business park. The new distribution centre will be part of an employment site which offers high quality office, distribution, manufacturing and industrial spaces and centralised facilities.

The Marshgate Group, the selected developer for all the commercial units, is continuing to work with interested businesses on designs and layouts for new facilities.

If works starts towards the end of this year as planned, the new building will be ready to open Quarter 4 2021.

David Warburton, Managing Director at the Marshgate Group, said: This is a bespoke build which will give CareCo the exact design, layout and build quality they need to showcase their products, increase their efficiency and improve customer experience. We are looking forward to making a positive start on what will be the first of many new commercial units on the Horizon 120 site.”

Cllr John McKee, Cabinet Member for Corporate Transformation at Braintree District Council, said: “I am pleased to see that our offer is attracting the attention of businesses from outside the district who want to be part of something special. This is a significant investment, from a leading independent mobility company, which will benefit our residents, create job and business opportunities and boost our local economy. This is great news for the local community and wider district.”
