Ashford’s One You shop shortlisted for prestigious health and wellbeing award

One You shop

The One You shop in Ashford town centre is one of three potential winners of the Royal Society for Public Health’s (RSPH) new ‘Health on the High Street’ Award.

The RSPH is an independent health education charity and the world’s longest-established public health body. Its Health & Wellbeing Awards are the UK’s premier awards scheme for promoting health and wellbeing. The ‘Health on the High Street’ Award is new for 2018 and is inspired by RSPH’s Health on the High Street campaign; the objective of which is to help businesses and local authorities to improve the health of their communities.

The Ashford One You shop, located within the town’s Park Mall shopping centre, is one of three initiatives shortlisted for the ‘Health on the High Street’ Award. The others being Surrey County Council (Eat Out Eat Well) and BetknowmoreUK (Don’t Gamble with Health).

Ashford’s Health and Wellbeing Board Chairman, Cllr Brad Bradford, said: “I am delighted that the Ashford One You shop had been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. This really highlights the hard work and dedication that has gone into this initiative by everyone involved.

“The One You shop in Ashford town centre provides a variety of free health services, support and advice for the local community. It has proven to be so popular that it will be moving to larger premises in order to accommodate the demand for its services.”

All winners will be revealed at the gala RSPH Awards 2018 event on Thursday 18 October at the East Wintergarden in London. The ceremony will be jointly hosted by RSPH Vice President Professor Lord Patel of Bradford OBE and broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky, with entertainment from Breathe Arts and The Fizz (the band formerly known as Bucks Fizz).
