What’s on this May in East Sussex

Looking for things to do in East Sussex this May? We’ve rounded up some of the best events for you to pencil into your calendar. From bird walks and vintage car shows to food festivals, we’ve got your bank holiday (and more) covered.

We’re also looking ahead to the May half term which starts on 27th May. If you’re out of ideas after the Easter holidays and are in need of some inspiration for what to do, here are some things to keep the kids entertained.

Share a story

May is ‘National Share a Story‘ month, so here at Your East Sussex we’ve taken the opportunity to highlight why sharing a story can be so important.

Statistics from 2014 show that one in five children in England cannot read well by the age of 11, and that around 16% of adults in England and Northern Ireland score at the lowest level of proficiency in literacy.

So what better way to tackle both problems at once than by encouraging adults to share stories with their children?

Get that festival feeling

Following a glorious Easter weekend, we are now well and truly ready for the summer season.

There are loads of festivals happening across East Sussex over the coming months – and with the advantage of these being close to home, you don’t need to face the muddy depths of a campsite or have to remember to bring your own loo roll.

Here’s the lowdown on what’s on.

From the newsroom…
