White Cliffs Country Tourism – Celebrating Success

White Cliffs Country tourism bosses are welcoming news that businesses in Dover District are leading the way in a range of top tourism awards and success stories.

Recent successes include:

  • Kent Life and Kent On Sunday Food and Drink Awards – Steve Whitney from Whits of Walmer has been named the winner in the Chef of the Year category, and The Dog at Wingham was highly commended in the Restaurant of the Year category
  • Tourism South East’s Beautiful South Tourism Awards– Molland Manor House in Ash and  Alkham Court Farmhouse are finalists in B&B of the Year, and Greenhill Glamping at Alkham Court is a finalist in Glamping Business of the Year
  • Kent Tourism Awards – the White Horse in Dover and The Dog in Wingham are two of the three finalists for Tourism Pub of the Year, and the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel-le-Ferne is a finalist for the Hidden Gem Award
  • Michelin Guide UK – The Frog and Scot has made it into the Michelin Guide UK after 18 months of being open.  The Frog and Scot is a lively French Bistro situated on the award-winning Deal High Street.

Cllr Michael John Holloway, DDC Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “Tourism plays a major role in the local economy, and we have a fantastic range of great places to explore across White Cliffs Country.  We are delighted to see that businesses in Dover District are making such an impact in these awards, and that we have such a range of tourism success stories.”
