About

Set within a landscape of the Southborough Valley, an impressive 19th century brick railway viaduct passes over the sites of 16th century forges and 18th to 20th century gunpowder and corn mills. The outline of the mill ponds are still well preserved although the area is now quiet rural fields.

The structures being excavated are likely to be the remains of the final corn mill on the site, the last remnant of this busy industrial area.

Visitors will be able to appreceiate the mill in its wider setting of a wider industrial past.
