What’s on in Thanet this Early May Bank Holiday

There’s exciting times on the horizon as summer is fast approaching.  Easter bank holiday may now seem like a distant memory, but there’s plenty going on in Thanet this weekend as we welcome our second bank holiday weekend of the year.

 

MARGATE

Venue: Dreamland

Event: Sunset Sessions – DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Yoda & Huey Morgan

When: Saturday 4th May 2019 – 18:00 – 23:00

Star Wars Day is now quite the spectacle in our calendars and every year there are millions of cries around the world of ‘May the Fourth be with you!’.  Dreamland’s Sunset Sessions is returning on this, almost holy, day to the delight of many.  With an all start line-up including the Fresh Prince favourite and grammy award winning DJ Jazzy Jeff, hip-hop artist, DJ Yoda (fitting for the day), and Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman, Huey Morgan.

Tickets are £10 + booking fee in advance, and include entry and access to rides, with special discounts for members.

This is an all ages event, but under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+.

Event: Hipsville Soho A Go Go

When: 3rd – 5th May 2019

There’s a trash party coming to Margate and it promises to entail dirty magazines, underground drinking dens and after hours clubs.  Welcome to the seedy part of town.  Celebrating the sleazy side of London, this year’s theme is Soho!  There must be lots of debauchery around, because the mayhem is being spread across several venues; Winter Gardens, The Glass Jar, The Lido and even Cinque Ports!

Venue: The Pavilion on the Sands

Event: Broadstairs Craft & Gift Fair & Now That’s What I Call Nineties and Noughties Night!

When: Sunday 5th May 2019

On Sunday 5th May, The Pavilion on the Sands has a jam-packed day.  During the day, the Broadstairs Craft & Gift Fair will be open (which is free to enter), so take a look around the varied stalls and find yourself a gem, all while looking out to the wonderful Viking Bay.  Then, in the evening, it’s party time!

Nineties and Noughties Night will be a nostalgia fest for many bringing all the best hits from two excellent decades of music!

Event: HOGS SKA FEST

When: 3rd – 6th May 2019

If you like ska music, then you’ll probably want to find yourself at the Hogs Head, St Peters (formerly The Little Albion) this weekend – with four acts to choose from, you are spoilt for choice.  Go along, have a jump around and celebrate the Jamaican roots of ska and reggae music!

RAMSGATE

Venue: The East Cliff

Event: Historical Murders Town Trail

When: 3rd May 2019 – 19.00 – 20.15

Did you know that there were at least six murders that took place in the East Cliff side of Ramsgate between 1859 and 1903?  Well, if you didn’t, let Rotten Ramsgate Tours take you on a journey of mystery and mayhem to uncover Ramsgate’s rotten history! – The tour runs for 75 minutes approx.

Event: Ramsgate Handmade & Vintage Fair

When: 5th May 2019 – 11am-4pm

The Ramsgate Handmade & Vintage Fair will have its second event of the year this Sunday 5th May.  There’ll be stalls with a variety of items including; textiles from Downland Originals; sculptures from My Beach Hut; Dorky Bags; Seahorse Glass; Mr Soapy; Enzo’s Bakery from the Canterbury Goods Shed and Loopy Lou’s dog attire.  Now in its 6th year and still going strong, get yourself down to the Harbour Parade between 11am-4pm
