Museum Lates: Morgan & West – Time-Travelling Magicians

August 29th, 6pm – 9pm at Maidstone Museum

Great Scott! Time-travelling magicians Morgan & West bring a magical extravaganza to a millennium near you.

Not content with their lot as the 19th century’s greatest magic duo, this prestidigitatory pair present a conjuring spectacular to the audiences of the modern day.

No future is left unseen and no timeline left unaltered as these temporal tricksters burst into the 21st century with a show brimming over with baffling magic, unparalleled precognitive powers and a totally genuine ability to travel through time!

Access for All 2018

September 1st, 10:00am-1:00pm at Jubilee Square, High Street, Maidstone. Hosted by Golding Homes Limited.

This free activity day brings together people with disabilities, their carers, family and friends.

Come along to our family fun day!

Everyone is welcome to come along and take part in the fun.
We will have lots of activities for all including arts and crafts, a magician, a face painter and the Old School Samba band.

This event features Kent based organisations offering services,
products and activities for people with disabilities.

 

 

Exploring Textiles in Design

September 6th– 1st November, 10.30am – 12.30pm each week at Maidstone Museum.

Artist Anne Delacour leads another 8-week course exploring the use of textiles to create beautiful and crazy pieces to wear or to display. Distress fabric, embellish it, upcycle, bubble, stick, shrink! Some materials provided.

Take in the view across Maidstone from the Museum’s Victorian Observatory tower, normally closed to the public. Free but admissions are timed (every 20 mins) and must be booked in advance. Unfortunately, the Observatory is not accessible for those with mobility issues.

Enjoy the ‘festini’ atmosphere with a variety of live and local music! Join us in the beer tent to sample up to 50 varieties of beer and cider. See the last Coal fired Oast House in Britain and have a go at picking our hops by hand.

 

Hartbeeps Bearsted Launch Day

Come on down to Bearsted Womens Institute Hall for the Hartbeeps Launch Day! There will be 3 sessions:

10am – Happy House (18 months+)
11am – Babybeeps (8-18 months)
12pm – Babybells (6 weeks-8 months)

Memories Day: Papermaking

Did you work in the papermaking industry in Maidstone? Come and meet up with others like you and share your stories. Maureen Barcham-Green will repeat her sell-out talk on the last production mill.

Raise the roof fundraiser: Flower Festival

September 14th, 15th and 16th at Holy Cross Church, Bearsted, free entry.

Refreshments to enjoy and of course a look at the delightful entries. Some arrangements will be sold off. On 15 September in the evening, there is also a concert by the Kent Chamber Choir and The Holy Cross Choir at 7.30pm. There is an entrance fee for this but funds are going to the roof repairs.

 

Festival of Flowers

Paws in the Park

Glorious Glass

15 September – 10 November at Maidstone Museum. Free entry.

Celebrating 20 years of the Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) as the principle advocate of artists and collectors of contemporary glass nationally and internationally. Works from both international high flyers and hobbyists from the South East are featured in this exhibition. The glorious colours, textures, use of light and variety of techniques of contemporary glass are displayed for everyone to enjoy.

Re-Imagining the Doll’s House
