What is the Community Protection Team?

Maidstone has a new Community Protection team , but what exactly is it and what does it do?

Maidstones new Community Protection team was created in July 2017 and is committed to keeping  communities safe, as well as helping the council deliver one of their key priorities – a clean and safe environment for everyone.

The team deals with a wide variety of issues including noise pollution, anti-social behaviour  as well as mental health and self-neglect.  These cases, whilst very challenging, are immensely rewarding when a happy outcome is achieved.

Here is what one of the Community Protection Officers said:

“I recently was involved with a resident whose property had a serious issue with a build-up of domestic and animal waste.

“After extensive clearing and cleansing of the property, we were able to make sure that the house was more habitable. The resident is now living in a much safer and more comfortable environment.

“This change has meant a significant difference to this individual and I am really proud to be a part of this important work.”
