Westcourt Tango

Westcourt Tango celebrated its 5th Anniversary on Sunday 4th September with an Argentine Tango Tea Dance held at Shepherdswell Village Hall.

Dancers enjoyed three hours of dancing to traditional vals, tango, and milonga music with a smattering of Nuevo and Neo-tango for extra spice. A cake showing the club’s logo, and boasting five candles was shared between the dancers who also enjoyed tea, coffee, and conversation.

The tango club started from small beginnings in September 2011, when a few posters placed in the villages of Shepherdswell and the neighbouring village of Eythorne, resulted in 10 would be tango dancers turning up at Shepherdswell Village Hall for their first class in Argentine tango.

The club has grown considerably in size over the years, with hundred of dancers having been taught the beautiful dance of Argentine Tango. The regular Tango Tea Dances and Milongas (Argentine tango social dances) are well supported. The club has also welcomed dancers from overseas with visitors coming from Austria, France, Germany, Holland and Italy, to name but a few of the countries of origin, who have wanted to incorporate some tango into their holiday or visit to the UK.

Westcourt Tango, holds regular Argentine Tango dance classes in Canterbury and Whitstable. Social events are held monthly in Littlebourne and Shepherdswell. Westcourt Tango is Kent’s leading promoter of live music.
