Turner Contemporary appoints eight new trustees in the lead up to the Turner Prize

Turner Contemporary has announced the appointment of eight new trustees who will join the board during the next phase of the gallery’s development.

The new trustees will bring expertise and talent from a range of industries, including broadcasting, management consultancy, investment banking and marketing as well as extensive experience within the arts and cultural sector.

Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary says:

“Our trustees are vital and set the strategic direction of Turner Contemporary. We are thrilled to announce the names of our new trustees who bring a board range of perspectives and expertise to our existing trustees. I am looking forward to working with them to ensure that our ambitious plans are delivered.”

Following a total of 2.6 million visits, Turner Contemporary continues to be recognised as the catalyst for the regeneration of Margate, locally, nationally and internationally. To date, it has brought over £58million to the local economy through tourism and inward investment.

2018 – 22 sees Turner Contemporary move forward with a number of ambitious projects, including the gallery’s Digital Transformation Programme, a planned capital scheme and the Turner Prize which will be hosted at the gallery in 2019.

Over the next six months there will be a process of board rotation with members from the gallery’s existing board stepping down to ensure that skillsets of new and existing trustees are complimentary.

Trustees were appointed following an open process of recruitment. Turner Contemporary had more than 70 applications for these volunteer roles.
