Do you have what it takes to Dance your way into Canterbury Festival’s programme this year?

Canterbury Festival

Canterbury Festival has just announced the launch of a brand new Dance Competition. This forms yet another strand of the Festival’s rapidly expanding year-round talent development programme Made in Kent, which reflects the art forms featured within the core Festival programme each October.

So, it’s time to grab your leg warmers, brush up your barrel jump, perfect your pliés and create some new choreography. The Festival is looking for Kent-based solo dancers (aged 18+) or Kent-based dance companies (majority 18+) who are performing their own repertoire, to enter with a performance between 15-30 minutes in duration. The work should fall into one of the following categories:

–          Hatchling (brand new work, not been performed before)

–          Fledgling (some elements have been performed)

–          Fully fledged (already been performed)

For those lucky winners, a paid performance opportunity at Canterbury Festival 2017 will be offered at St Mary’s Studio Theatre, with print and digital marketing to ensure an excellent audience. They will also receive mentoring and professional development support in conjunction with Kent Dance Network.

The competition is now open to applicants. Simply download the form via the Festival website (www.canterburyfestival.co.uk). Entry deadline for all applications is Friday 12 May. For further details, contact Rachel at the Festival Office on 1227 452 853 or email [email protected].

The Festival would like to thank University of Kent for their continued support of the Made in Kent talent development strand and Canterbury Christ Church University as Partner and Principal Sponsor of the Festival.
