Spooky Hallowe’en fun returns to the Beaney

The Beaney in Canterbury will once again be turned into a spooktacular haunted house this Hallowe’en.

‘Fright at the Museum: Mother Crawe and the Crows’ Curse’ takes place on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October, with the whole museum given a spooky look and feel. Visitors are invited to enjoy pumpkin carving, potion making, Hallowe’en-themed refreshments and explore the museum’s spooky exhibits.

The event, which is a fundraiser for the Beaney, also features a Hallowe’en trail based around a fictional ghost story of a witch called Mother Crawe and her crows from Canterbury. Participants will follow the trail with Mother Crawe’s feathered friends to help lift the crows’ curse.

All those who successfully complete the trail will be entered into a draw to win an Amazon Fire tablet.

In addition, visitors can see a display of real live owls and learn all about them in the Explorers and Collectors Gallery between 11am and 3pm on both days.

Hallowe’en fancy dress is encouraged for all the activities and there will be prizes for the spookiest outfits.

Chairman of the council’s Community Committee, Cllr Neil Baker, said: “After such a successful event last year, we’re very pleased to be returning with another two days of spooky fun for all the family. The Beaney team will be going all out to transform the museum into its spookiest look yet, so it’s one that’s not to be missed for all fans of Hallowe’en.”

‘Fright at the Museum: Mother Crawe and the Crows’ Curse’ is open between 10am and 5pm on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October. Entry is free with additional activities payable.

The Hallowe’en trail costs £5 and can be completed throughout half term (19 October to Sunday 3 November; closed Monday 28 October). Potion making is also available for all of half term.
