Have your say on business rate relief scheme

Eastbourne Borough Council would like to hear from local people about a new business rate relief scheme. The Chancellor revealed the scheme in the 2018 autumn budget.

The rate relief will benefit retail properties that have a rateable value under £51,000, with a discount of one third off their business rates bill.

The initiative will run from April 2019 to March 2021. Eligible businesses will have their award applied directly to their bill.

The council wants to hear from local businesses, residents, organisations and other stakeholders about the proposed policy under which they would apply the rate relief.

This consultation is open now and closes at 5pm on Thursday 31 January, 2019.
