Sandwich in Bloom Spring 2020

Please come and join us as we start our 3rd and most exciting year. 2020 sees us entering Sandwich into the South and South East in Bloom competition, the next stop on a journey we started 3 years ago.

The judging will take place in early July, just before the Open Golf begins, what a wonderful opportunity to show our lovely town off.

We will need as many people as possible to help us as there will be a lot of work to be done. No gardening experience is needed as most of the work we do is just about keeping the streets clean and tidy, helping with weeding and deadheading.

What a wonderful time of year this is as we see the bulbs appearing once again and the days getting longer. The daffodils planted by the children last year are now in bloom and we are seeing the new daffodils that we planted last year emerge along the river bank.

The troughs along the Quay with the winter planting are still in full colour, you may have noticed we have had to remove the plants from the additional new troughs as the pole on which they are fastened is not secure. Dover District Council will soon be repairing this so we can fill these once again.

We are pleased to see the fantastic work continue at St Peters by the gardening team and also the volunteer gardeners at St Clements who are helping in clearing the weeds and overgrowth in the Church Yard.

We must make a particular thank you to the Co-op for their support by including Sandwich in Bloom in their Community Fund scheme for 2019. This has ensured our project continues.

We are grateful to STC, DDC and KCC too who are supporting us in many ways, we know Sandwich is going to look even more amazing this year!
