Ross Edgely From Margate to Margate via the Sea

Ross Edgely returns to Margate shoreline after 157 days at sea

Ross Edgely returned to Margate’s shoreline yesterday morning after a staggering one hundred and fifty seven days at sea. The athlete left our shores on 1st June 2018 with the aim of swimming around Great Britain, people doubted whether it could be done but the red bull endorsed & fueled Ross has proved them wrong. The feat is unbelievable when you start to comprehend the distance the numbers and the endurance. Ross has clocked up four world records along his swim, along with being the first person to swim around Great Britain, he became the first person to swim the entire south coast from Margate to Lands End, in just thirty days. Then the swimmer powered his way from Lands End to John O Groats in sixty two days a time worthy of another world record. It was during his time in Scotland he encountered Storm Ali which left them docked in the Dunbar harbour for a few days, Scotland also bough swimming partners for Ross in the form of Sharks and most of the swim his path was littered with Jellyfish. The other record picked up along the way was the longest single swim which was five hours and twenty five minutes covering 33.4 kilometres.

Ross averaged twelve hours a day in the sea, was often in the sea more often than his boat bound bed. He encourages everybody to push their limits. He was joined by 300 swimmers for the final stretch back into Margate which made for splendid scenes. As usual Thanet’s fabulous Frank Leppard was on site to document the day with some stunning snaps, the photographer seems to document every single event in Thanet and CommunityAd are thankful he does. CommunityAd would like to add to the national congratulations to his remarkable feat, Bravo Ross, Bravo.
