Taking charge of new electric vehicles – DDC officer Ros Sayer with DDC Cabinet Member Cllr Nicholas Kenton

The new electric vehicles will be used out and about across the district, as part of the day-to-day work of the Environmental Enforcement team. This covers protecting the local environment through dealing with littering, dog fouling and fly-tipping, and dog warden duties.

The electric vehicles are replacing two diesel vans. These are the first electric vans to be used by Dover District Council staff in our current day-to-day service delivery. The Council is looking at options for expanding the use of electric vehicles in other areas of our work across the district.

There are a number of electric vehicle charging points in the district, including facilities at the new Dover District Leisure Centre.

Cllr Nicholas Kenton, DDC Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, said: “We are very pleased to be able to take charge of two new electric vehicles. Environmental protection is a vital part of the work of the council, and it’s great that we are able to reduce the impact our vehicles have on the environment as we move forward.”
