The Government is to give Kent and Medway councils money to repair potholes that litter the roads  in the county.

Medway Council is to receive £280,565 while Kent County Council is to get £3,058,239.

It comes after the transport secretary Chris Grayling announced that an extra £100m is being shared among councils in England to fund repairs to roads damaged by recent storms.

Last year the Kent County Council spent £5.2 million patching over 66,800m2 and filling an equivalent 133,600 individual potholes on a road network of over 5,000 miles.

As Kent has one of the largest road networks in the country, the fund will definitely come in handy, as they are currently facing a backlog of pothole repairs.
