Celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week 2023: Honouring the Unsung Heroes

Professional Care Workers' Week 2023

Professional Care Workers’ Week (PCWW) 2023 is here, and it’s time to shine a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of care workers across the UK. Hosted by The Care Workers Charity, this event is now in its sixth year and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

  1. What’s New in PCWW 2023? This year, PCWW takes place from September 18th to September 22nd, and it’s more accessible than ever with all talks and panels being held virtually, making it possible for attendees from all corners of the country to participate for free.
  2. What’s the Purpose of PCWW? Professional Care Workers’ Week is a dedicated occasion to celebrate care workers and the essential work they do. It serves as a platform to raise awareness and elevate the profile of care workers within the UK. The event features an exciting program of panels and information sessions led by care workers and care managers, alongside industry leaders in Adult Social Care.
  3. What Can You Do to Participate? PCWW encourages everyone, both within and outside the sector, to get involved. Attend a talk, contribute to fundraising efforts, or host your own events to honour and celebrate your colleagues.

To support fundraising efforts, consider hosting an afternoon tea on Thursday, September 21st, or join a fundraising walk along the scenic South Downs on Friday, September 22nd. For more information, contact our events manager, Ayesha, at [email protected].

What to Expect During PCWW? Over the past six years, PCWW has become a central gathering point for professionals in the social care sector. It provides an opportunity to address key challenges and acknowledge the outstanding work of the workforce. This year, PCWW will delve into the inner workings of the social care sector, exploring the issues faced by care workers and the sector as a whole.

Collaboration is at the heart of PCWW, offering a platform to share best practices, experiences, and discuss critical topics such as care worker well-being, workforce skills, the cost of living crisis, and strategies to support care workers.

Beyond discussions and panels, PCWW is a celebration. It’s a time to honour care workers who provide unwavering support to those in need, regardless of the challenges they face.

As a special gesture, we encourage Care Providers to use this week to express appreciation for their teams through small tokens of thanks, such as cards, cakes, parties, certificates, or any creative way to show gratitude.
