Police assisting NHS workers with food drop

NHS Test

Maidstone officers have been ensuring surplus food supplies don’t go to waste with police assisting NHS workers with food drop by sharing donations with staff working to fight the coronavirus.

On Sunday 29 March, supplies of sandwiches and fresh bread were delivered by Kent Police to Maidstone Hospital, following an agreement between a patrol sergeant and a local supermarket. The food was taken from a Tesco store in Tonbridge Road and then provided to key workers including accident and emergency doctors and nurses, as well as crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Maidstone Chief Inspector, Ray Quiller said: ‘Our strength lies in our communities coming together to help one another. Therefore, it is also fantastic when businesses show support for the tireless work from NHS staff working on the front line of the coronavirus outbreak. They were all incredibly grateful and really appreciative of this small gesture.’
