Local Plan: North Essex Section 1 Plan Examination

Following our recent local plan consultation, we’ve heard back from the independent Planning Inspector.

He is reviewing the consultation responses & once he has completed this he will publish the full timetable for the further hearing sessions.

He has indicated that the likely timescales are as follows – but please note that these may be subject to change:

  • Mon 11 Nov – Publish Matters Issues and Questions, hearings timetable & Inspector’s guidance note.
  • Mon 2 Dec – Deadline for hearing statements.
  • Mon 16 Dec – Deadline for responses to hearing statements.

Tue 14 Jan – Hearings open.

NEGC engagement

North Essex Garden Communities Ltd is carrying out a programme of public engagement with the public about the possible garden communities.

Under the title, “Shaping Communities for Future Generations”, NEGC is asking the public what they would like to see garden communities deliver for them.

£30m investment in town centre

Braintree District Council has announced its investment of £30 million into the Manor Street regeneration scheme in Braintree.

Kier Regional Building Eastern has been officially appointed to lead on delivering the project which will see 35 new homes, a “Livewell” hub, pharmacy, 70 bed Travelodge, new bus interchange, café or restaurant overlooking a new public realm and a twin-level car park.

Mark Dady, Managing Director at Kier Regional Building Eastern, said: “We are specialists in delivering key projects for local authorities nationwide. We work extremely hard to leave a positive footprint on the areas we work in and throughout this project we will be committed to engaging with the local community and working closely with local subcontractors to create a range of job opportunities for those living in the area.”
