Essex Future Library Services Strategy

Thank you for all your responses so far, to Essex County Council’s consultation on its proposed strategy for library services over the next five years.  The consultation ends on 20 February, so if you haven’t yet filled in the survey then it’s not too late.

All your responses will be taken into account and completing the survey is the best to way for your voice to be heard.

 

Essex Book Festival – tickets selling fast!

There are some fantastic authors appearing in libraries as part of the Essex Book Festival this year. If you haven’t already done, so have a look at the brilliant line-up on the Festival website or pick up a brochure at any library.

E-audio for Children

Have your children tried e-audiobooks? They can help while away a long car journey, make a change from watching TV, or create a relaxing bedtime routine.

They can help to develop children’s listening and language skills, increase their vocabulary and understanding of words and their meaning, and spark their imaginations. They can also be a great way for children with dyslexia, reading or print disabilities to enjoy stories without worrying about their reading.

LGBT History Month 2019

LGBT History Month is an annual event celebrating the history and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in the United Kingdom.
The theme this year is ‘Peace, Reconciliation and Activism’. Our recommended reads are about the history of the LGBT community during a time of radical change. These books, with their distinctive voices, cover culture, music and some personal, emotional stories.
