The Essex Book Festival is 20 years old this year and to celebrate members of the public were asked to suggest the best reads with an Essex connection.

Our Library Ambassadors recommend

Our Library Ambassadors have recommended some fantastic

teen reads. This assorted selection includes action, romance, fantasy and real-world issues.

Essex Future Library Services Strategy

Thank you for all your responses to Essex County Council’s recent consultation on its proposed strategy for library services.

The consultation closed last month and there has been a terrific number of responses across the County.

We appreciate the time you’ve taken to give us your feedback. More information regarding the library consultation will follow in Summer 2019.

Summer Reading Challenge volunteering

Would you or your teenager like to volunteer to help us with the Summer Reading Challenge? It’s a great opportunity to meet children of all ages, encourage them to join the challenge and talk to them about the books they’ve been reading. It’s fun and great for your CV!

This year’s challenge is called “Space Chase” and will tie in with the fiftieth anniversary of the moon landings. It will run in all libraries from Saturday 20 July to Monday 2 September. This volunteering opportunity is open to everyone aged 14 and over.

You can apply online from Saturday 16 March and the process is quick and easy.
