New fitness studio unveiled in Chelmsford

A brand new fitness studio is now open at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre. The new state-of-art facility was officially opened on Thursday 6 April by London 2012 Bronze Medallist Boxer Anthony Ogogo.
The new studio has allowed the Centre to introduce 20 new fitness classes a week including PiYo, Kettle Bells & HIT 30. It can also be used for birthday parties, martial arts and many other activities. This new facility was possible after a £60,000 investment by Chelmsford City Council, creating a modern, spacious and inviting facility for all of Chelmsford and the City’s 4,000 sports centre members to enjoy.

Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor Julia Jeapes, said “There was already a terrific selection of classes on offer at the Centre but many were at full capacity. This new studio has allowed us to increase the offer and in turn allow more people to participate in sport and fitness. I encourage everyone to come and take a look at the facilities and to sign themselves up for one of the new and exciting classes.”

Anthony Ogogo won the bronze medal in Boxing (Middleweight Division) after already winning a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Now turned professional he has won 11 of his 12 fights. Anthony is a Chelmsford City Council Sports Ambassador and regularly trains at the Centre.
